My son showed me this link at R-COT.org.
Click on the “Read” section, and you will find two items listed under Eric Hodek which might be of interest to those who daily battle MSG . The first is Eric Hodek’s “Open Letter to Mettallica” and the second is his thread on “Corporate Ownership of the Media”.
I was telling my son a couple days ago, that it is a shame that youth thinks that they are choosing their alternative music when in fact it is being fed to them. Throughout history songs and ballads have provided a means to voice social issues and get the public’s attention. Not so today, with song production and distribution carefully controlled, and only 9 groups owning the media. Hodek summarizes quite nicely the problems that arise when just a few corporations own the media in a Democratic Society.
We all know that MSG issues get far too little print and “oh the blues songs, we could write and sing”, but what stations would play them?
Consumers, you must realize that what you buy whether newsstand, cable, magazine or CD, has an impact on what’s out there and who gets to sell it to you.
