I wanted to share this more upbeat email. We received so many the last 2 days and also phone calls...don't know what is going on, but we are happy that people are making the MSG connection. Here's the one we just received:
"I am writing to you for the doctor in our office. She works with many
autistic children. MSG is a huge problem with these kids, as it is with
everyone. Dr. Amy has your book, she is looking for your permission to
copy the cover and the back to send to our clients so they can see it
and go out to buy it. Also wondering if we could use the front and back
just as we copy it, as information we would hand out at conferences,
we have one in August. Please feel free to call and ask us some
We've also heard from different parents of 2 autistic children recently, so someone is passing the information about MSG around, I'm guessing.

The link between MSG and autism has been getting press.

John Erb seems to be a good writer, if this is a sample of his. I hope his book gets read. Have you bought a copy of it, Roy? I think I will.
I said many years ago when I was on the NoMSG board, that it will take the growing ADD/autism epidemic and children's reactions to MSG that will make people finally take notice. It's happening now, I believe.

I just got a copy of the AARP Bulletin and there's an article about Alzheimer's disease...based around the growing interest that Reagan's ordeal highlighted. It mentions Northwestern University's recently discovered link between the gunky plaques of beta-amyloid protein and the abnormal, stringy tangles of protein that are both found in brains damaged by this disease. It states the cause remains a mystery (and the huge increase in cases), but research is growing. It mentioned the new drug Namenda (memantine), developed for people with advanced Alzheimer's. "It blunts the brain chemical glutamate, which can accumulate abnormally and kill brain cells." Here again, glutamate is relegated to just the normal amount present in our brains...they never get it..that too much is entering our brains from the abnormal amount people get from their processed foods....thanks to the great efforts of the food industry lobby groups, and the ignorance or ineffectiveness of the FDA.... or its political/pharmaceutical/food industry ties.
