On December 4th, WPMI of the Pensicola, Florida area, aired a TV program on NBC, ("News 15")about the effects that excitotoxin elimination had on a Dr. Sigfried Smith's fibromyalgia patients. He and some of his patients were interviewed. I e- mailed the health editor and asked to purchase a copy of the video. My son wants to reach this doctor to obtain some of his data to use with his own patients. Substantiation is important in any practice. I found out about this when we began to get several book orders from that area. One person called to order, and so I was able ask why the sudden interest in MSG from that area. She explained she was from Mobile, AL. and had just seen the program. Her daughter-in-law has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, and so she did a search on MSG and found our site. Yahoo! It thrills Mike and I to no end when we hear about such media coverage.

Deb And All,
It was about 12/04 when I saw a similar presentation, probably the same thing, on Dr. Sigfied Smith's fibromyalgia patients here in San Jose on the local evening news. I was so pleasantly surprised. I have a good friend I had spoken to several years ago about her disabling fibromyalgia and the MSG/aspartame connection. She told me if there was anything to that she would have heard about it from her doctors at a certain giant HMO. She has been to the HMO or other doctor's office about twice a month for at least the last ten years that I have known her.
She wasn't willing to change her diet in way, too
much trouble in her mind.

This is something I have come across "its too much bother to change"
More bother than being ill? Even my own sister is not interested would rather wait for that miracle pill that going to hassle the GP will produce.
Well I do lose my patience and tend to think they like the drama of the illness. I do intend to spread the word but I'm afraid its only those who are really listening who will benefit.
I have spent hours of research on the internet before I decided I would give it a go.
And its not hard if you prepare yourself properly I wish they would not make it out to be difficult its easier than a slimming diet and much easier than giving up smoking and the advantages are enormous.
Well back to give my sis earache!!!
bye

Unfortunately, you are so right about some people. It comes from years of being taught that doctors know all the answers, and from being in a society that wants and expects magic pills for everything....or easy ways of doing things. This is not a diet. It is more of a return to eating the right way. And once one gets into the habit, it is not hard, but worth any effort. Also, some people are so ill, they don't even want to think of one more thing they have to do that takes their energy...that is the sad irony...if they did it, they would have the energy and blessings of good health again.

Oh I despair!!
Today I went swimming with my sister and she was so excited to show off her sunburn!!! She uses baby oil and sits in the sun. I was horrified and lectured her on skin cancer. She laughed in my face and said I think everything is bad and you only live once. Eh!!
Her son has had epilepsy for a couple of years and eats foods that horrified me before I understood about MSG.
She also has FMS but will not listen to me when I say she should try this type of diet. She has it in her head that I need exercise not a diet Eh!! Eh!! I go round in circles and feel like giving up as she gets so cross with me.
But who is right after swimming I did my weekly shop, went home made the lunch and took a 6 mile bicycle ride all with my nine year old in tow.
After swimming she went home had a cigarette a coffee and spent the rest of the day in bed!!!!
I rest my case.

Unfortunately, the evidence against sun is accurate. My best friend's daughter is 37, in the hospital right now with melanoma. It is predicted that she has 6 more months to live. From a burn in childhood, to a mole in November, to probable death in 13 months. She has three children 11, 13, 15. Let's hope all mothers live to see their children grow up.

Su,
My husband and I found the web site for Gainesville Sun News but did not have any success on a search for msg or glutamate. Perhaps it did not make the web version of the newspaper. Could you provide more details or perhaps a copy of the article?

Gainesville Florida the Gainesville Sun. i think it was an article from a year or year and a half ago. My mom sent me the article because that is what it took to convince her. She wouldnt listen to her "nurse-su". i threw it away after proudly showing my husband and friends. It was not on the internet, that I know of. i will do some research.
the news flash from compuserve was on the little pop up news on the left side of the screen when you first log on. I will try to find it too.
