Ask and they will make it. Hormel just came out with a new line of MSG-free cold cuts. Has anyone tried these yet? Hopefully other food makers (Boar's Head, I'm looking in your general direction) will follow their lead. Anyway, I'd like to thank Hormel for offering an alternative.

Carol H,

Is it their DeLusso line of cold cuts?

Roy,
I believe it is the Delusso line and unfortunately they are not available in my area (Oregon). I saw that they are available in the New york area, Texas and Alabama. That means Carl H. or someone with it at their disposal will have to be our ginnie pig. I wonder if I can request them from my local supermarket?

Pam E.,

I noticed a couple Florida locations, also, and DiLusso is also listed as being available at Hy-vee stores, which are in 7 additional states, but still no Oregon.

Perhaps you can call your local supermarket and ask them to carry it, or contact DiLusso directly and ask if they have any plans to expand distribution to your area.

Actually it's even newer than DiLusso. http://www.hormel.com/brands/brandview3.asp?akw=natural%20choice&id=918&catitemid=4
It's called Natural Choice and is not supposed to have nitrates either.

Carol H,

The "Natural Choice" line lists "natural flavorings" in their ingredients, so there still may be enough free glutamate in it to cause reactions.
