Just today there are reports that the deadly toxin from pufferfish may be soon used to treat pain. How does it work? It's a sodium channel blocker. It works the opposite of glutamate - it stops the transmission of pain signals. They believe it may also help heroin addicts recover as well. Interesting, as we see addictive behaviours and excessive pain with somewhat avoidable things like glutamate and aspartame. Sigh....The high cost of healthcare continues to rise.......

I was watching "Good Morning America" today, and Charlie interviewed a young mother who had been plagued by terrible headaches every day. She had been tested repeatedly, and had tried every known drug, but nothing worked. I listened intently, hopefully, since her story seemed just like mine. Imagine my excitement, when she said she finally found relied through diet. She used Dr. David Buchholz's book, "Heal Your Headache", and then they listed the main triggers...MSG was on the list! Then they had her in her home showing two cans of tuna. She said that she couldn't use one because it contained "broth", which was a likely source of MSG. Charlie then had her and the doctor on the show today, and basically asked, "then you're saying that diet is the answer?" They told him why...that the triggers inflame the blood vessels in the brain. The doctor said to first throw away all the meds you have, and even mentioned the rebound effects of OTC pain relievers like Excedrin..only to use them occasionally. Yeah! Just what we have been preaching. I love it when major TV national news stories support us!

I went to the link (thanks to Roy) and wrote them a letter thanking them for this piece. Followed by asking them to do a more in-depth piece about MSG specifically. Maybe we should all flood them with letters!

Thanks, Lisa Marie. I wrote them, too, asking them to do some more research to expose the dangers of excess glutamate in our food.
Please, everyone, just take a moment to send a little thank you to ABC. Roy has the link posted above. It's so fast and easy to do.

I urge all to write, also. It only takes a minute, and might spare others the pain and suffering you went through.
