While searching for ingredient info, I accidentally came across the delicious tidbit that L-cysteine is made from human hair, or slaughtered animal hair. Does it get any grosser than that? It can apparently be synthetically produced but from the little I have read, typically it is made from human hair. I even looked it up on hoax websites because I didn't believe it but it's true! There was even a mention of it in Fortune magazine. Here is the link: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2003/07/21/346103/index.htm Even if it didn't make me sick I wouldn't want to eat it. How tasty is that bagel now? If people only knew... |
