Hi there, I live in London and am trying to find a chinese restaraunt that is msg free. Doies anyone have any ideas or could you point me to another web page that may be able to help me. Thanks |

Dominique, If you order Chinese food steamed plain, you can avoid the MSG and soy sauce residue from the pans used to stir-fry. Some chopped scallions sprinkled over the top can add flavor. |

Roy Thanks for that, I can ask my local to try that now. Unfortunately there is little info on msg in the UK so I have simply gone without as I can not find an alternative. I have got Debbies book which though which is very useful. |

BEWARE... I went to a Chinese Restaraunt this week-end. I asked for steamed vegetables and thats it. I brought my own seasoning mix (I use it at home all the time). I got very sick soon after eating. I found out that they steamed the vegetables with chicken broth for more "flavor". I think if I ever go there again that I will have them stir fry in oil only and see how that works out. Pam E. |

Pam E. I always ask Chinese restaurants to steam my food plain, with no sauce or seasoning. If they stir fry in oil it might be re-used oil with MSG dissolved in it, or there may be MSG residue in the pan. |
