I am on a headache and MSG free diet. I've been trying to eat a low tyramine and MSG free diet at the same time and eating sunflower seed butter and blueberry jam sandwiches everyday. It's the only thing I can think of to eat. Is this a safe thing to eat. Can anyone recommend a safe bread to eat? And is the citric acid in my organic jam safe?

Hi Anonymous,
From what I've read from other folks here, some react to pectin found in jelly and jam. And the citric acid may be a problem as well. Deb A has a recipe for making jam in her book I've been meaning to try. If you do find you're reacting to the jam you could try honey. As far as bread goes you may do okay with a local bakery. All the breads in my grocery stores are full of dough conditioners and additives. I missed bread so much I bought a bread machine and make my own once a week. There was also a bread recipe posted here that looked really good.
Good luck with your eating, and get some relief from your headaches.
