In the last year, I've only had 1 migraine (6 months ago).
The previous year I had 25-30 migraines.
1 year ago I crashed a segway scooter and broke my wrist. I started taking calcium & magnesium & vitamin D supplements.
1 year ago, I was diagnosed with low vitamin D, started taking additional Vitamin D supplements, and raised my level from 18 to 55.
1 year ago, I started having reactions to MSG, which caused me to radically change my diet, eliminating most prepared foods, eating nothing but chicken, rice, salt & oil for weeks at a time.
I've only been on an MSG "free" diet for 3 weeks, although there were many periods in the last year where I was essentially MSG free (not on purpose) for weeks/months at a time.
I've read that magnesium is an important supplement for migraine sufferers. Years ago, I did try magnesium but didn't find it helpful; however, I might not have been taking enough, or for long enough.
I've also read (forget where) that magnesium may offset bad MSG reactions, or in some way is related to the msg thing.
I don't know if the lack of migraines was due to magnesium, for msg, or vitamin D, or something else.
I am, however, delighted not to be suffering from them.
I no longer carry my zomig on my keychain !!!!
Just wanted to share my experience in case it might be helpful to someone else,
