Does anyone know of a tomato sauce, that is safe and not expensive?

I used to be able to eat Muir Glen Organic tomato sauce, but I've been reacting if I eat too much. It seems that if I eat a small amount every few months I'm okay- anything more and it pushes me over the edge for a reaction.

I do fine if I make my own sauce from fresh tomatoes.

I put three quartered tomatoes, skin and all in my blender with 1 clove of garlic, salt, pepper, 1/4t. oregano. 1/2 t. basil (both dry), salt, pepper, and some sugar to taste. Pulse and you have fresh instant tomato sauce. If you like it thicker, add a little tomato paste. Hard to find tomato sauce without citric acid or other additives in cans. Another way to make tomato sauce is to use tomato puree or paste and add seasoning and water to your preference.

Thanks for the sauce recipe Deb. I am very frustrated at the citric acid being in every darn thing out there. I'm not sure if it bothers me physically, but really want to be sure for everyone in the family.

I like Cento. The price varies from store to store! one place has it for 5 dollars a can and another has it for 1.88 per can; and thats within a 1 mile radius, lol. That's their crushed tomatos. I don't ever get sauce because I react to it. They actually don't list citric acid, but they may have it. I feel best eating their food. It works fine as sauce for pasta and chilli's.
