I am wondering if anyone has had reactions to Quinoia (organic) or if it is safe.
I know it is high in protein and so I cooked a small batch so it is only in the rice steamer for 30-40 minutes. I only ate 1/4 cup last night and did fine, then tonight had 1/2 cup and got a reaction - although not entirely sure it was the Quinoia.
I realize the reactions can show up a few days later so I will lay off it for a few days and see how I do next time but thought I'd check in here to see if anyone has any experiences with it - good or bad.

I've eaten it without problems, but each person is different. Did you rinse it before cooking it?

I did rinse it real well. I'll try again in a few days and see if the same reaction occurs. I feel ok today - sometimes I'll have just a response shortly after I ingest something and I am uncomfortable for a while but next day seem to be ok - other times, I am sick for days, one just never knows. Uggghh....but we all know what that is like

I rinse carefully in a strainer for four minutes and cook (simmer) for less than 12 minutes. Sometimes I have a mild reaction, sometimes not. Try to undercook, that might help.

Great tip Zoomer! I am going to try that in a few days here and see how that goes.
I would imagine that in those times you may have a slight reaction, your internal "msg pot" is already near full....which I guess explains why one time you'll react to a food and another time you won't to the same food. Frustrating isn't it? Ah well, we do the best we can.
