I asked about citric acid, corn, etc. I stopped buying "fresh" farmed salmon at Whole foods for $14/pound and am using frozen trader joe's Wild @ $8/pound. Wild is better than farmed, and I very much like the savings.
Here's there answer:
All of our Trader Joe's Wild Frozen Seafood will be caught and processed
on the same ship. There are no other ingredients or chemicals used in
the packing of our frozen fish. Please know that we always fully
disclose all ingredients used in all of our TJ'S labeled products.
Therefore, if there are any other ingredients used they will be listed
on the products folder.

Note that they don't describe the processing that occurs on the ship.

They did an expert job of not answering the question.

Roy, are you saying they are using sulfites, etc? I KNOW Whole Foods sprays all their fish. I only ever bought salmon once from TJ's. I bought 'fresh' salmon once from TJ's and it was bad--had to get a refund. Thanks.

I contacted Whole Foods. They assure me that the spray you see them spraying is just distilled water so it doesn't dry out.

What I'm saying is that Trader Joe's may have neither knowledge nor control over what their suppliers spray on their seafood during processing aboard ship. All they are claiming is that they add nothing to it after they receive it. If sulfiting agents were used aboard ship and not disclosed to them it won't be on the label.

MikeS, Sorry, WF fibs. I know because I got very ill on their 'fresh' fish, their 'frozen fish' AND their 'fresh' lamb chops. This was about 4 years ago. I contacted them. Somewhere on this board I posted our exchanges. I do not believe they spray distilled water on everything. I really got sick all three times I tried to eat that stuff.
