I emailed them about auxigro, take a look at this lame answer:

Thank you for contacting us. We're happy to provide information about our products and company.

Safety and quality of food products have been top priorities throughout our history. We have employed the use of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques for many years. IPM is a practice that employs biological and cultural approaches to pests and plant diseases, minimizing the need for traditional crop protection products while ensuring high quality, healthy crops.

Dole uses only those crop protection products accepted by all applicable governmental agencies, regardless of where the crop is grown. In addition, Dole will not use, anywhere, any product banned for reasons of unacceptable health or environmental risk by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the European Union or the World Health Organization.

We strive to be a responsible and environmentally sensitive company while providing our consumers with the highest quality products at economical prices. We hope we may continue to have your trust and confidence.

Sincerely,

Dole Consumer Response Staff

I quit buying any products by Dole in January when every single one I tried gave me reactions (I hate it when a store only sells Dole bananas). Really, I don't buy any of the major food brands in the grocery store anymore. I would never even consider: Kraft, Great Value, Bryan, Campbell's, Jif, Kellogg's, Land O'Lakes, Mt. Olive, etc. Now I am thinking I will need to add Bland Farms organic produce to the list. The only major brand that I would consider is Dannon whole milk plain yogurt, and that is only in an emergency. The way I figure it, even if by some wacky oversight these companies were able to come up with an additive-free product, that doesn't make up for all the toxic mess that they peddle.

Hi Kristy, I'm wondering what brand of bananas do you use? I am afraid to try any, so I look at them and walk away all the time. I'd love to add them to a smoothie as I read some of you do, but I don't know which one. Also I use Land O'Lakes butter only the salted one. It says cream and salt. Down further it says contains milk. I never know if that means cream is a milk product or that there might by dry milk solids in there. I thought it had to say milk solids specifically. I use very little, but am wondering if it might add to my fga buildup. It has been quite a while now since I have gotten sick. I am feeling great and incredibley I have started to lose weight again even thought I am eating as much as before, maybe even more because I feel so much better. I am thinking that I have eliminted the fga build-up culprits. I have lost about 35 pounds over the time that I have changed my eating habits. No big problem, I needed to lose it. I will be careful of the Land O' Lakes in the future though. Don't want to lose ground again. I'm even doing yoga and stretch excersises again. Energy is gaining too. I went back to lightly cooked regular oats (bulk bought) a safe hamburger or chicken with brown rice or salad, scrambled organic eggs, and a similar night meal with peanut butter and cranberry jelly on Wasa in between. I can even eat white organic rice without a problem. I have not had spuds in a long time. I bought some locally grown, will try when I get brave. Mariann

Hi Mariann, I always buy Chiquita bananas for my daughter. She is pretty sensitive and doesn't seem to react, but I can't eat fruit of any kind (I think it is a fructose problem). The Land O'Lakes here all have "natural flavors" so I just don't buy any Land O'Lakes products anymore. I'm really bad about passing judgement on food companies for adding "natural flavors" and then never buying any of their products again. I feel that if they add "natural flavors" they know what they are doing.

Congratulations on your success! I lost 30 pounds quite easily when we changed our diet, too. I am still working on energy but haven't had any success yet. Good luck with the potatoes, I have just replaced them with turnip roots. You can't bake them but they work well in soups or roasted - I even like them better than spuds sometimes. Potatoes aren't allowed on the GAPS diet anyway.

Thanks Kritsty for the info. The turnip roots sound good. I am so much more open to new foods now and they taste so good. I use only organic vegies. and am even really careful about where I get them. Fruit is a real problem for me. I used to use bananas before, but thought they may be a culprit so I stopped using them. So you see I was pretty much ready to can a company too. The funny thing is I used Chiquita then, but heard a story about their being in a problem fair trade wise, so I switched to Dole and even one that was organic. I can see by some of your posts and others that Dole is a problem. It perplexes me why some of the companies use different ingredients by state. I had heard of that before, but am seeing it first hand now. I don't blame you about passing judgement on food companies, you are right they know all to well what they are doing. I am in the process of doing my bread for stuffing and the wheat rolls in Debs book for Christmas presents for a couple of my friends. They have had them here and raved about them. I'm excited to be doing that for them. I'll freeze them and pull their presents out of the freezer. We have been friends for 48 years or so we get together and celebrate a late Christmas every beginning of January. As it turns out we are all Godparents to each others kids, so my grandson calls it the Godmother party. At 12 he still likes to come along with his Mom and little sister. I don't know how long that will last. He will love handing out the rolls to them. He loves to cook with me. I am going to go all organic with foods that I know are safe for me for Thanksgiving. I am so anxious to see if all the groaning of being bloated still goes on. I bet it won't. I know some of the kids and kids-in-law are affected. They are somewhat careful, but consider this "Mom's problem with food." We'll see. Thank you all for your help and have a wonderful Thanksgiving and happy preparations to you all. Mariann

I hope all of us will avoid the usual problems holiday foods bring people. It is worth the effort to prepare ahead like you are doing by baking your own breads, Mariann. I did find a dry stuffing mix after the holidays last year that I froze and tried later. It was made by Arrowhead Farms and was organic...just added sauteed onions and celery, water, and a bit more herbs. No reaction. We buy Foster Farms natural turkeys..no injections. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I'm grateful for the work we all do here and for the chance to chat with some great fellow MSG sufferers.
