My hubby and I want to start working out. While we realize the need for protein shakes is somewhat doused with myths, we are still curious if there are safe ones out there. Mercola seems to think that protein concentrate is safe, but not isolate. It's on a product page of his: http://proteinpowder.mercola.com/Miracle-Whey-Protein.html I also get low on protein sometimes because of heart failure, so I'm curious in that regard. I'd like a low calorie source of protein. I've heard spirulina is good for that, but I'm looking into it still. I'd much rather just eat food though. |

I'm with you on the "rather just eat food" part. That way you know it hasn't been processed and you know exactly what's in it. |

I add dry egg whites or Crystal Farms pasteurized liquid egg whites (Walmart) to my fruit smoothies for more protein. Sometimes I add almonds, which also add more protein. |

Deb A., Watch out for biotin deficiency if you are consuming raw egg whites. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biotin_deficiency |

Yeah, that's true @roy. Not sure what to do. I think I'm just going to eat fats with my foods. I feel like crap when I don't eat fats anyway. |
