has anyone tried any of Organic India's herbal teas lately? i love their Tulsi tea, which i discovered a couple years ago... it was disappeared off the shelves for awhile, now its back- with lots more varieties than before.
of course right away i snatched up a box, and allready had my first couple cups before i read the ingredients well enough to notice a small footnote at the end..."Other Ingredients: Organic Lemon Flavor"... hmmm. dont remember that being there when i bought it before? or maybe i just missed it.
anyway, ive sent them an email inquiring whether the flavoring is actually lemon oil (which i think i do fine with) or just another one of the Mystery Flavors that seem to be showing up in just about everything anymore. havent heard back from them yet, so i thought i'd post an inquiry here too in case one o' yall might know something more...
ive used about 4 bags so far with no OBVIOUS issues, but i still dont feel 100% comfortable with it. maybe organic is still ok, but i know i react pretty strongly to lemon flavors that arent listed as organic. and i just read a post at an eczema board where the author had definitely connected "Natural Flavors" with flaring her eczema- and i dont want to have to worry about yet one more thing aggravating my trampy looking skin any worse!!
but, it is getting SO HARD to find ANYTHING without the extra 'flavors' added that even one of my firmly junque-foody, typically non-label-reading friends recently commented on it. which can only mean that The Great Add 'Flavor' To Everything Conspiracy has officially reached epic proportions!

ok, ive received a reply... an amazing, wonderful, confidence restoring reply i love this tea company!!
Thank you for contacting us! The natural flavors that we use are made of either pure fruit extracts and pure essential oils. For instance, in our Sweet Rose blend we use a Rose essential oil to give it a stronger rose flavor than the blend has when only using the rose petals, and in our Pomegranate Green Tea we add Pomegranate and mixed berry extracts which bring out the fruit flavor notes in the blend. All of these pure fruit extracts and pure essential oils are certified organic and contain no additives, preservatives, synthetic or artificial components, msg, or gluten. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
Yes, and please do repost this. We would love to let people know about our tea!

I have also tried their Tulsi tea and it works fine (unflavored, no lemon).

I haven't been here in a long while and what do you know, I come in and see a post on Tulsi tea which I JUST discovered and tried my first cup last night! I loved it, and like you didn't know if I'd have any type of reaction - it looked safe, but you never know. And I didn't have any reactions...mine was their regular unflavored one. I think I will be adding this tea to my daily regime.
Great reply from the company too

That's the kind of company I love to do business with and try to recommend them to everyone I meet. That is a dream answer that I rarely see the likes of....and I write to a lot of companies.
