After Kristy mentioned Fish Emulsion, I checked it out at wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fish_emulsion
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fish_hydrolysate

From what I gather, the fish chow the farmed fish eat if boiled, enzymed, hydrolyzed pieces of other fish - Yuck!

Has anyone had problems eating farmed fish?

Maybe any free glutamic acid turns back into bound glutamic acid after the farmed fish eats its dinner?

Thanks,
Mike

By the way, just found this:

"A recent study published in the journal Science suggested the pollutants came from PCBs or polychlorinated biphenyls in the fish oil and meal fed to farm-raised salmon. The Northeast region of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is testing farm-raised salmon and other fish for dioxin and other pollutants. There is a fear that contamination could occur through commonly used feeds. They recommend that farmers changes their fish feed and urged consumers to buy wild salmon. It is uncertain whether fish will be tested in other regions.22"

I'm convinced: I'm going to live on the WILD side !!

So are they still selling the Salmon?
Maybe they are using them to make all the Hydrolyzed Protein Fertilizer that is making eating impossible for me.
It seem every grower in the world is using it.
I really have to wonder where they are getting all the protein to make it with.

Five, I know exactly what you mean about the veggies. I am having trouble finding vegetables myself. I started a small raised bed garden and compost pile this year. I hope to eventually grow everything that I need to feed my family. I am in rural Alabama where you would think I would be up to my eyeballs in fresh produce but even at the local farmer's market everything is chemically grown. The way things are going, I suggest everyone start their own garden or befriend a smart organic farmer.

Don`t eat any type of fish that is farmed, they feed the fish antibiotics.
