I have been having problems lately with having no energy and being irritable and having pain around my kidney. I have also been very hungry and thirsty. Hypoglycemia runs in my family. I have not had a blood test yet, but am planing on getting one soon. Does anyone know what kind of medicine they would give me? I read that for hypoglycemia they give you glucose pills. I'm just afraid I'll get something that has fillers or gelatin. I guess I could have diabetes, but I don't know yet since I haven't been tested.

I'm dumb but I wonder if it's the adrenal gland hurting you. It's so close to the kidney. Have you seen the youtube channel: underground wellness? Sean has some videos about adrenal fatigue.

In my own experience. I also thought I had diabetes. But my doctor kept saying I didn't. I've have pains on and off in both my kidney area and pancreas areas. Not usually simultaneous though. Severely limiting my grain intake has helped a lot. A couple years ago, I ate a whole bunch of pineapple and skipped a meal and got depressed and clumsy, enough to fall off my bicycle. Got bruised up quite a bit. ... Right now the principles I subscribe to for my diet are things I learned on psychetruth (on youtube), this webpage about hypoglycemia http://hastingspress.co.uk/hypo/diet.htm except I'm not eating the grain. If you know of a better link please let me know. I'm kind of lazy or maybe I lack focus researching the things I should. Also you said hypoglycemia runs in your family. I guess I subscribe to some other things that I won't mention, because I'm not trying to steal your thread or anything. It's just when you bring up a topic it really gets my mind thinking about a topic I should spend more time thinking about myself.

This adrenal thing is just something to think about. But this adrenal thing sounds like a lot of people these days. Everybody's eating poison food and under a lot of stress. Stress can really fatigue this gland.

You probably know the following already but I'll include it for anyone just browsing the forum.

It's good you are getting this checked out. It's such a simple thing to test for and unfortunately is such a common problem.
But I wouldn't think you definitively have it, just with those symptoms. I've had soooo much fast food and I don't have it. Lately on naturalnews there was an article about some study saying 7 minutes a month of vigorous exercise can prevent diabetes.

Also, how long has this been going on? And what have you tried? I guess your other post said you tried taurine.

This has been going on for a few months, but it's getting worse. When they took my blood and checked my kidneys in the hospital, they said everything was normal. I think I should still get another test though mainly, because I've hard bad things about the hospital I went to and the people didn't seem to care much. I exercise every other day. I try my best to eat only good food. When I have an attack it comes on fast numbness in the cheeks and I have what feels like a panic attack. I do eat a lot of carbs and protein. I do eat sweets, but not everyday and not usually a lot, unless I'm over my friends house and his mom bakes something. I eat a a lot of bread, butter, meat and cheese. I drink mainly water and whole milk and apple juice from whole foods. I've taken creatine and drank about 5 litres of water at once I was so thirsty. When I take Taurine I get thirsty too, but I only take about 250-500 mgs. I don't have money to get C0q10, since its $45 a bottle.

Remember, I don't know much, like I have no idea why there might be pain certain places. But if you think an issue of yours could be hypoglycemia. It's not that hard to test yourself for it. All you have to do is just eat meat and vegetables for a few days and see if it helps. (this makes your sugar intake very low) Of course these days it's not quite that simple. A lot of meat is soaked in chemicals, which might skew your results.

I don't know how much you know about all this.
I'll just list a couple things that are on my mind that you might find useful.

Have you looked glycemic index of foods?

Apple juice is a real sugar spike. Starches and most flours are too. Things like juicing would be very bad for hypoglycemia.

meat and cheese are excellent choices. I really don't eat cheese. Just because I'm not real trusting of the manufactures these days. Also, some people here are msg sensitive to some types.

I actaully pack a meal a lot. I don't ever go more than 4 hours without eating.

Lately I watched a video about making hard cider out of apple juice. Letting the yeast work for 5 days. I tried it and it wasn't bad. It really got rid of a lot of the sugar. It makes a low alcohol drink. But the tenants of the diet for people with hypoglycemia is no sugar or alcohol. So I might take years off my life by doing this.

What a thing to add to my depression. I try to eat as much as I can to bulk up. I guess I'm going have a hard time doing that now.

why would you want to bulk up? just try to be the healthiest you can be.

Why? Because I want to be strong and built and powerful and not weak. I want to be able to lift heavy objects, defend myself be strong and be fit.

By fit I mean be mainly muscle. I'm tired of being weak. I've been weak all my life and I'm not going to settle for that anymore.

I am hypoglycemic and react to msg
go to walgreen and buy a blood glucose meter
they sell store brand for cheap and test it especially when you feel wierd

I eat alot of peanut butter :-) (just peanuts and salt)eggs/veggies
if it is your blood sugar i will help you through this

now that I have been msg free for awhile I have finally gained some weight!!!!

Thank You Debbey. I also eat a lot of peanut butter, but I eat Skippy's Natural. I know some people have trouble with that brand but I don't. I should be getting my blood tested this week. My friend who is diabetic tested my blood sugar for me when I went over his house and it was 98. I told him I had ate about 4 hours earlier and he said that he thinks I might be borderline hypoglycemic.
