Hi I've found a great farmshop, plain meat, nothing added, delicious. They also sell sausages with no additives, although it does contain potatoflakes. So I asked the farmer/butcher about these and he showed me the bag which says 100% potatoflakes, brand McCain. I got in touch with McCain who confirm there are no flavour enhancers used but does contain two processing aids E471 and E450i. E471 is 'mono and diglycerides derived from glycerol' ; E450i is Disodium Diphosphate. Am I right in being worried about the E450i; also what about the sausage wrapping (from animal gut ?high in gelatine)?

I avoid phosphates that are used as preservatives in foods. I especially react to pyrophospates. Mono and di-glycerides are derived from hydrolyzed corn and will contain some glutamate residues.

I'm fine with natural sausage wraps, but avoid gelatin products of all kinds.
