I want to suggest that those visiting here continue to check to see if the NoMSG site and bulletin board are up. I know that they are working on the problem and are going to get a new host.

The board at NoMSG is now up! But I'm a little mad at them, so I will wait to post there. Besides, Deb and Mike.....this site is much nicer. I like the layout, topics and colors. Nice work! And thank you both for caring.

Hi, I must being doing something wrong because I still can't get to the NOMSG site. I have to agree with Gerry this site is a lot nicer! The heck with them, I'm tired of trying. Thanks for this site!

I just tried and got into the NoMSG board with no problem. Please don't blame "them" for the problems they were experiencing with the site. I'm sure they were doing all they possibly could to get back online as quickly as possible. We need BOTH sites, and I intend to check them both every day. Also remember, there is a LOT of historical information and posts on the NoMSG board which is priceless, and Searchable.
We all need to support each other, so please don't get mad when you are really just frustrated with something you can't control. Thanks for listening...

Thank you NOMSG for your site. I've learned so
many helpful things to help me with my free glutamate sensitivity. Having both nomsg and
msgmyth can possibly reach more hurting and suffering people. Working together is wonderful. Thank you all.

Mike and I appreciate all your comments. NoMSG has finally found a better host server for their site and hopefully, things will stay on track. I'm glad the situation forced us to start one here, something Mike and I had only discussed before. Yes, the more information we can share via the Net, the more suffering individuals will be apt to make the MSG connection. So please visit both sites regularly and share your experiences and very important messages about excitotoxins and other terrible additives.

I STILL CAN'T GET INTO NOMSG. AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG?

NoMSG is down now, but was working earlier today.
|Posted on Friday, October 27, 2000 - 11:16 am: || |
Just checked the NoMSG site/board, and sorry to say it's down again. I know the board is aware of the problem, but I was under the impression they had found a better server. Instead, I believe they are still trying to find one. Will keep you informed if I learn more.

Is there any way we can get or save the content of the discussion board from the nomsg site? I meant to print the postings out so I could keep track, but I didn't get the chance to do it. That it may be lost, would be a tragedy. I hope we can recover it.

One possible, but time consuming way, would be:
The next time you catch the NoMSG site working, individually open the discussion sections, highlight them to the bottom (it will flow down the postings and not stop after each one), right click in the highlighted field, choose "copy", and then right click the second time to paste it to an e-mail for printing.
|Posted on Monday, October 30, 2000 - 6:31 pm: || |
Or paste it into your word processing software for future reference.

I like the structure Mike has chosen for your message board. I too would hope that past "relative" comments could be retrieved from the NOMSG site and archived here. I'm sure Mike's editorial experience could simplify some of the postings or combine experiences.
Recently I have recommended this site and the NOMSG site to a fellow worker suffering potential MSG/Aspartame symptoms and I think she would be helped a lot by the past commentaries.

The last time that I was able to access NoMSG.com, after it had been down for a while, all of the past postings were intact, which means that they probably still are.
If anyone knows who the web host is and how to contact them, perhaps we can retrieve the message archives and transfer them here even if they never come back on line again.

Mike and I have been in touch with the people in charge of the site at NoMSG and are trying to get a back up of all the postings on the buletin board. We are just waiting for a reply.

Hi all, Just back from a MSG free vacation on the Bahamian island of Exuma. Everything is home made in the restaurants and bakeries. Makes you wonder about our great country when a little country like the Bahamas can make things from scratch.
My sister, a supermarket manager, says it is a shelf-life issue. Here in the US we have the big market chains and things must be able to stay on the shelves as long as possible, hence the chemical additives.
By the way, what has happened to the NoMSG website? It was up and working again when I left and now it is down again.

Thanks for missing me as you stated in the Sharing Media Reports and Letters Related to the Issue section. I have been traveling a lot for work lately and when I've returned I haven't found the time to write. I have been reading, however, and am glad the flow of information is continuing. Sorry to see that the NOMSG forum still has problems. I had posted to many A-Fib related sites that the NOMSG site and its forum were lifesavers for me, but now many will probably be frustrated that the forum is not available there. All that past information was valuable - especially to newcomers.
Your new forum is set up a little better than the last with its categories, but unless everyone posts their posts in the correct category, the categories will blend and those seeking pertinent information will still be required to read all posts. I don't have a solution, because I am guilty to responding to a thread that is off topic only to realize my posting should have been placed in a different category (after it has been posted). But then I couldn't respond properly to the thread so that's why I can't suggest a solution.
Maybe having the category title repeated right by the "ADD A MESSAGE" would help us all maintain posts to the correct categories. I see that the category appears at the top of the "Preview Post" page, but most people posting are probably more focused on what and how they posted, and not on the category. Maybe we could "dummy" proof the process with a "pop up" window that says "Are you sure you are posting this message to the most appropriate category?" then "If not please post to one of the following." And list the available categories. This might initially cause some threads to be shifted to other more appropriate categories, but over time it could prove beneficial.
Remember we at one time mentioned that these posts could be helpful to someone doing a research paper, article, etc. The easier we make it for such a person to use our information, the better chance we have of attracting attention. Think how convenient it would be if while talking to a reporter or politician or other influential personage, we could document our points of contention by simply referring them directly to the Sharing Media Reports and Letters Related to the Issue section. And if we could assure them that by doing so, they would have immediate access to useable source and commentary information.

Hi there, I am not a computer wiz so am not sure how things work, but I have found it hard on this site to remember where things are. I have seen a comment about tyramine somewhere, either here or NOMSG, but I'm not sure what it was under. A word search of the site would be helpful for this type of problem. Don't know if it's possible, but would certainly be useful. Candy

In the left hand window is a utilities section. Click on keyword search, type in tyramine and it will bring up all postings that include that keyword.
|Posted on Friday, January 26, 2001 - 4:16 am: || |
Just left-click on "Keyword Search" under "Utilities" (to the left), and put in "tyramine" (or whatever keyword(s) you wish). I came up with two pages of entries.

Is there any way we can get information to this group during this week's activities?
|Posted on Tuesday, June 05, 2001 - 3:47 pm: || |
I e-mailed them the following web site in the hope that they can somehow fit it into their discussion series:

A friend just sent me an E mail link or whatever you call it. It is "an interview with God." The man states that he will not be able to run the page much longer than the end of June. It is
interesting and some of you might enjoy it.
I hope that is the correct address as I am very new to this Internet "stuff"
I did down load the words so if the Power Point presentation is gone, at least I could mail you the words.
|Posted on Friday, June 22, 2001 - 10:27 am: || |
amh, I hope you are feeling better. Do you know what you ate that caused the episode?
|Posted on Saturday, June 23, 2001 - 9:54 am: || |
amh: I couldn't get the link. I'm interested in all sites. Will you double check the entry? Thanks.

Let's help the people who want to be helped first, then worry about the rest of the population. Once we get our numbers up, maybe we'll have a chance. When the newcomer area is ready, maybe you could ask for a tally of how many are visiting the site for the first time, this way getting an indication of how many new people are actually checking out msgmyth. I think a special area for newcomers is a terrific idea.
|Posted on Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 4:11 pm: || |
Maybe we could add a counter box to the site that would show how many log-ons there have been since a specified date.

Deb A. Are you sticking with Discussware or is Mike going to consider a whole new redesign?
|Posted on Thursday, September 27, 2001 - 9:22 am: || |
MeMorris, we are looking into the costs of a new program right now. Mike has had lots to catch up with at work since the Reno trip, so this weekend he will be finding more time to examine the options and the ideas being suggested. I'm still catching up answering all the e mail that was waiting. Keep the suggestions coming! You are helping so much.
